Discover Durham’s Hidden Garden Gems

Join us on a delightful journey as we meander together through East Durham Region, uncovering hidden horticultural treasures tucked away in urban spaces and charming nearby locales. Our journey begins at the Bowmanville Allotment Community Garden situated at the edge of this thriving community.

Garden and farm secrets await as we venture north through the countryside from Bowmanville to a well-known regional gem: Archibald’s Winery, proud two-time winners from this year’s All Canadian Wine Championships. Their spiced winter apple and hard ginger cider both won double gold, come hear their story.

Winding northward, just seven minutes away in the picturesque Enniskillen Valley, we discover 3 Bees Buzz, passionate beekeepers producing delicious wildflower honey.

This year, we’re thrilled to have the exclusive opportunity to visit Faith United Church Gardens and wander their woodland trails. Here, Sheila and a dedicated church committee tend the AIDS Committee of Durham Region Community Garden, one of our You Grow Durham Fund recipients providing fresh, healthy produce.

Our tour wouldn’t be complete without a stop to purchase fresh veggies. After our locally provided lunch, we’ll head to Maple Grove Orchard to stock up. With produce secured, we’ll make our final stop at the always mesmerizing Field Community Garden in north Oshawa.

Each garden and farm offers inspiration and learning opportunities for all. Come prepared for a day of exploration, shopping, and camaraderie. Dress for the weather, enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch, and get ready to connect with fellow garden enthusiasts. (Oh, and did we mention there will be prizes?)

A detailed itinerary with stop order and location coordinates will be emailed to all registered participants shortly before the tour date. Carpooling is encouraged.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the diverse beauty of Durham’s gardens! Get your tickets today.
